Those looking for an old fashioned festival with fun for the whole family will find it at Norfork May 18th during Pioneer Days. This is the annual celebration of an event that highlights Norfork and its history. The festival will be kicked off with a parade at 10:00am on May 18th , complete with a marching band, horses, vintage automobiles, floats, and of course, a Grand Marshal. Local vendors will offer a wide variety of items including food, crafts, artwork, and a lot of other hand-made items. Arkansas Fish and Game will be on site with their educational display. Local musicians will provide entertainment throughout the day. An annual tradition, the Civil War re-enactors will set up camp on the grounds of the historic Wolfe House.
For the youngsters, there will be a number of games including a Bounce House, dunking booth, a critter show, and duck races. Food enthusiasts (all of us!) will have an opportunity to attend the Dutch Oven Cook Off and sample the results, including the winners! It is scheduled to start at 8:00am on the Wolf House grounds. And again, this year the more athletic members of the community can participate in the 5K Run.
Those wanting to participate in the Dutch Oven Cook Off should contact Coetia Bartasch or David Miller for contest information. If you are interested in being a vendor you can reserve a space by calling the Norfork City Hall, 499-5225. Reserve your spot early to get your choice.
